Nobody bothered to tell me that May is a pretty bad time of year to start trail running in Richmond. It’s not that May is all that bad— far from it, the weather is often perfect. The problem with starting in May is that there’s hardly any time to get in shape before June, July, and August come around, and running the trails along the James River in those months is pretty rough....
